What Terror Will War Bring?

Even though I do not live in Manchester, I have been privileged to work with some of the area children as a child therapist over the last 18 months. The young people I have encountered are interesting, intelligent, beautiful, and precious in every way. Yet like all children, they are fragile and rather easily intimidated by their environment. The neighborhood or playground bully can inflict fleeting or sometimes enduring psychological pain. The terror and uncertainty of these times and world events can also frighten our children.

I can't help but wonder if the children in Iraq are so different than our own. Do they not need to be able to learn and play in a safe environment in order to be free of physical and psychological pain? What terror will war bring to their little lives?

While each of us decides in our hearts if war or peace might be the best solution to change the direction of the governments of men, should we not consider what situation would allow us to approve the dropping of bombs on the children of Manchester? Our children, like the children of Iraq are so vulnerable. Is war the best or only answer?
